Become our Neighbor

Six-Week Cohort Training

Here, we will dive deeper into philanthropy and incorporating grant work into a funding strategy. This option is perfect for building your foundation for grant searching and writing.

Deliverables

What does $600 get ya?

Three Months of Support and Resources
There will be six scheduled virtual calls spread over three months with recorded information provided between calls. You will also have unlimited email access for the three months. We will cover: Preparing, Seeking, Writing, Organizing, Managing, and Advocating for a Better System.

Office Hours
Once we get started, we will share our office hours and you can call in anytime you need to talk through your specific goals and questions.

Grant Worksheets and Templates
We will share with you tools and templates to keep all your important grant-related information. We will help you fill in some of it, but it is up to you to complete it. For more assistance, consider our Resident Package.

Funder Prospecting
We will show you how to search for funding prospects and leave you with a list to consider for future applications.

Curated Resources
We know there are amazing resources out there. When we know more about you, we can connect you to the resources that make the most sense for you.

Grant-Readiness Assessment
We will help identify areas within your program design, budgeting, and strategic plan that might not translate well to a funding audience and give you some direction to tighten those things up.

Access to Village Connections
Joining community groups of practice and professional organizations can be expensive. We are fortunate to be a part of some wonderful groups that you might not be ready to join. We are happy to tap into those networks to find answers for your particular needs.

Who is it for?

If you have ever said these words, this cohort is for you:

“I know the basics about grant writing, but how do I apply it to my circumstances?”

“I have a little bit of experience in grant writing and want to make it a full-time job. Where do I start?”

“I work in a nonprofit and they are asking to me to do the grant writing, but I have never written a grant.”

“Our nonprofit is ready to dedicate time to find and write grants. Where do we start?”

“I have taken some other grant writing courses, but I am not sure they have prepared me to start grant work.”

“What do I need to know to start bringing in grant funds for my nonprofit?”

“I am volunteering to write grants at a local nonprofit and need a little help.”

What makes it different?

This cohort is designed to be small so the information can be applied immediately to you or your organization’s specific circumstances. Learning from one another is one of the most valuable and effective ways to grow. We will dive deeply into the topics introduced in our Traveler Cohort and spend time exploring other important aspects of impact-driven work (strategic planning, program evaluation, board structure and leadership, DEIAJ, donor development, etc.). It is information and practice for both nonprofit staff and independent grant professionals (or people working to begin those roles). For nonprofit organizations that register, you can send as many staff members as needed to this training.

The Neighbor Cohort is for anyone ready to invest some time in more fully understanding grant work and preparing to apply it.

What topics are covered?

  • Preparing - research template and tools, mission and vision, theory of change, data collection, strategic planning, funding strategy

  • Seeking - prospecting tools and funder management, 990 information, relationship building

  • Writing - begin a master narrative, strengths-based language, writing tips and tools

  • Organizing - internal systems of organization and information sharing, data analysis, team roles, grant calendar

  • Managing - explore grant management options, implement organization and management systems

  • Advocating for a Better System - changing philanthropy for the better!

If, after the Neighbor Cohort, you choose to participate in the Resident Package, $600 will be deducted from the Resident Package price.
