Mind-Body-Work Balance

Connecting to ourselves throughout our work day can be exactly what we need to thrive.

Have you ever stopped in the middle of your workday and listened to your body? Some jobs are physically grueling. Some jobs are intellectually grueling. Other jobs are emotionally grueling. Whichever kind of job (or combination of those jobs) you have, do you ever pause to pay attention to the toll?

Many of us don't because we aren't taught to. Plus, most of our workplaces don't recognize the need for that pause and do not offer a space for it. So, we need to build it into our day even when it doesn't seem to fit.

You are one whole being - certainly more than your work title indicates. When all the parts of you do not align, something pays the price.

It is ok to seek balance and prioritize your physical, emotional, and intellectual needs throughout your day. More than anything else, it just takes practice. And that practice can simply begin with breathing - you know, the most basic part of human survival. Yes, breathing gives us life, but it can do so much more!

Mindfulness around our breath and our balance can be the foundation of a stronger, healthier existence in our workspaces and other areas of our lives.
